Niles looked up at the pretty woman. He remembered her from the other night. Mommy had really liked her too. Before she could get up, he gave her a friendly kiss.
"He's pretty good, I guess," Megan said, pulling him back a little. "I don't usually carry it, cause it's kind of a pain having both the cane and the dog, but that's not a bad idea, I hadn't thought about it." She smiled. "I guess I get used to it just as something to help me get around, not as a weapon. Although I've whacked a few people with it."
"Your Dad was real nice. Does he always talk like a preacher? Even when it's just the two of you?" She laughed. Other than the outburst when Niles had first found him, she'd managed to control her mouth pretty well through the meal. "That's awesome though that you've found a place to fit in with helping out. If you need anything, give me a yell and I'll try at least. Not sure how good I'll be securitywise, but if there's something you think I can do, let me know.
"Hey, is there someplace I can tie his leash around while we do this?" she asked, feeling the general area around her. "We probably don't want Niley here underfoot while you're trying to teach. How many are you expecting, anyways?"
