"No. You won't be needing handcuffs." Sean glared back at Chelsea. "And Karen's correct. Alibis go both ways. Keeping someone with her protects her as much as it protects others. Being under arrest and in my custody means, yes, when we get to a port you'll have to face the charges, but it also means she's my responsibility one way or another."
He didn't know how much she was saying was truth. He'd trusted her once. But, having no good reason to confess, there was the tendency to lean towards belief.
He turned his attention back to Karen. "You need to stay in public if Chelsea or I can't be with you. Remain in plain sight in case anyone finds out about this matter no one can claim you've done any wrong beyond identity theft."
Molly shook her head. This was all starting to swirl together. "Karen was Mommies name. It's a good name for a good person." She offered Chelsea a small smile that didn't go to the eyes. "I'll see if she wants to be in a larger group. Then we'll stop by if she is. She needs to eat something."
