Karen quickly closed the briefcase and fastened the latches. "There. Store it whereever you think it will be safe, Sean. I don't want to touch it ever again. Molly, I'm so sorry you had to hear all that." She wanted to go to Molly and give her a big comforting hug, but she was afraid it might not be welcome, so she stayed where she was and watched Molly for any indication or sign that she would be able to handle this. At least Sean was here. It pained Karen terribly to think that she was the cause of Molly's distress.
While she waited to see what would happen, a thought suddenly came to Karen. It was a minor detail, but based on what Sean had said, it could turn out to be important. It involved the gun, though, so she didn't want to bring it up now. Hopefully she would get a chance to mention it to Sean in private pretty soon.
