"Well, no, I'm from Sacramento. But, you know, San Diego has way better shopping and stuff." That reasoning was good enough for Savannah -- if you couldn't shop, what could you do? Shopping was its own magic. It was a shame the shops on board were so...not name-brand.
Savannah's smile faded slightly when Eve confessed that her day had not been good. She knew the feeling. "My imaginary boyfriend disappeared last night. So...not really good either." It was the first time she had said those words out loud, and it brought a pang to her heart, echoed by the loss of her brother and sister. She hadn't had time to recover from the first loss; how was she supposed to muddle through a second?
Quickly, she tilted her drink back and swallowed the rest of it down. Her head swam a little, like the beginnings of an ice cream headache, but she pushed it away long enough to order another one. By the time the drink had been ordered, she was able to wear that big smile again.
"But, you know, getting over it and stuff. Why the not-great day?"
