It was doubly funny that Miguel seemed to treat him like a wayward younger brother. Mostly because Jack had several years of life on the other man, and partly because Jack accepted the dynamic without questioning. Miguel was sort of like brother/friend/relative.
Jack grinned widely, showing nearly all his teeth, amused for little reason. Probably just because Miguel was laughing, and Jack was glad for a lighter mood than the rest of the ship. "/Yeah, but where's the fun in that?/" When Miguel looked concerned, his brother-in-law was quick to assure him. "/A passenger had a problem with his appendix, so Leto and her brother removed it. With Micah, another guy, attending. It turned out fine./"
Turning to the girl again, he held out a hand. "Nice to meet you, though I think we've met before. Something about...hats?" At her repetition, he nodded. "Miguel's wife, Maria. They have a little girl, Dominga. I'm surprised he hasn't shown you the picture he has of them, he usually loves to flash it around." Still, it was said with both humor and affection, Jack could not even try to pretend that he didn't respect the guy for his connection to his family.
He looked over at the other man, "/You haven't shown her the Picture yet?/"
