Savannah's grin widened into one of good-natured mischief. "Yeah, I know. And people hear I'm from California, and they totally do the exact same thing, you know? They think I'm, like, shallow and stuff." That was what Savannah assumed, anyway -- and why not? She thought there was nothing wrong with her!
"And, yeah, I know I'm supposed to have an accent," she said with a skyward roll of her eyes. "It just sounds like I do to you, because you actually have an accent!" That made perfect sense to Savannah by some trick of circular logic, surely. "I mean, what I wish, is that I had a real -- an accent people like to listen to and want to hear more of." With a dramatically heavy sigh, she said, "Like English or Australian. Or yours."
