Savannah giggled, that vulnerable, girlish giggle of hers that she had never realized gave so much away. "Well, that's one less thing to worry about," she informed him with a grin. "Can boys even have cooties?"
They had always seemed inexplicably a Girl Thing. She lifted her shoulders in a slight shrug, to show it didn't really matter.
"But even if boys could have cooties, you so don't really look like the type who would. I think it's like against all of nature's laws for boys who hand out cookies to be cootie-carriers." Oh, yes, she really could go on all day about cooties.
And she suddenly realized she could.
"Oh, God! I just totally stole one of your cookies and sat down without even introducing myself! I'm Savannah."
