Terra grinned, peeking her head in. The rest of her body followed, still clad in the yellow sundress and scarf that was now wrapped around her head like a bandanna, keeping her dreadlocks off the back of her neck. Too hot and humid for it today.
"I come bearing gifts," she said in a deep booming voice, and then laughed, dumping the two brown paper bags and water bottles on the desk. "Sorry, the nieces and nephews at home always enjoyed it when I used that voice." It was weird how much she liked being complimented by him. Like he actually meant it or something. She thought for a moment that they all seem to mean it at first, and then pushed away that thought.
"What're you looking at?" Terra asked, moving around to the other side of the desk to investigate. She really wasn't all that terribly interested, but if he was looking at them, it was probably important. Taking a good look at Ronnie, she frowned. "And why are you so pale? What happened? Nobody else is dead, are they?" Leave it to Terra to be conscientious about the murdered.
