"Yes. There's been at least one confirmed murder and possibly a second. Last night the body of Graham Shepherd was found stashed above the aft elevators I'm sure you all have seen as out of order. He was cut open across the abdomen. It was not an accident, or a suicide. This morning Cathair found blood and broken teeth on deck."
Sean waited for that to sink in. "The rest of the passengers need to be informed in a way least likely to cause a mad panic. I’m sure there will be panic no matter how they're told, but I don't want violence to ensue."
Sean paused a moment and looked about the room. "Father, with all due respect, we're talking about keeping people safe and alive. I can weigh that against a little unlawful entering very easily. Sometimes you have to commit a lesser sin to prevent a greater tragedy."
"I'd also like to discuss another grim possibility. I haven't seen any security guards since last night. I looked, as I wanted to thank those who helped with the investigation and moving Graham's body. There are a lot fewer room service people and no medical staff. Three more passengers went missing this morning. It appears crew is disappearing at a faster rate than passengers. Seeing as we haven't heard a thing from the crew, I'm worried there is no crew left. We have to try to talk to them through the phones, then the doors. But, I'm sorry Father, if there is no answer, we may have to get onto the bridge, not to take over, but to make sure we still have a pilot and navigator at the very least."
Sean looked around. "One of the reasons I asked both Father Peter and Gregory Prather here is to do just what Father Peter did. Raise questions of morality. I don't want to do anything that isn't focused on the greater good, protection and survival of everyone left on this ship. However; sometimes, in order to survive, you have to steal enough bread to make it through one more day. I'd rather face my maker knowing I did all I could to save as many as I could, rather than tell him I let people die because we aren't supposed to take key passes."
"I called you together to come up with ideas for keeping people safe, for ways to inform the passengers as carefully as possible without leaving things out or misinforming, just as we would want. I want us to look at each idea from every angle, poke holes in them and patch those holes up. We’re the Brain Trust, the Think Tank, if you will. And I called you here because someone has to do it. We can't just sit around expecting someone else to take charge. God helps those who help themselves. And, by God, we have to help ourselves at this point."
