Nik gave Zoe a sort of startled look at her poorly phrased question. The rephrasing didn't help. When he finally spoke, his voice came out at a bit of a squeak, "On the-" he paused to clear his throat. Ah, that was better, "On the counter is fine." What the Hell? Was he thirteen again? Christ.
He kind of watched his siblings disperse around the room... Gor isolating himself from all of them. Nikolai breathed a very sharp sigh and stepped back into the mini kitchenette, tossing back the rest of the glass of rum because really he was going to need it.
Still, he smiled at Slav. He hadn't made the carnitas because they were that particular brother's favorite - mostly because they were kind of a vague food. Meat on a bread-like substance. If he were really sucking up, he would have made Gor's favorite food but that would have been too obvious. Or would it have been good? He wasn't used to this sort of thing.
So he very quietly dished up his plate and waited for Zoe to dish up her's because he didn't want to brave sitting with his siblings alone. How sad was that? "So, uh... What's everyone been doing today?" That was Nik. King of the Conversation Starters... It felt so awkward because next to Gor he was the quietest of the lot.
