Mary just rolled her eyes. People who weren't kids hardly got offended when the term was used on them. Not that she doubted this girl to be closer to her age than she looked - unless she was talking to some precocious genius.
"I bet there's some in the vending machines. If you need some change I can give you some." Not like she needed it for drinking, anyway.
The girl's expression was probably the expression everyone would make if they suddenly stopped the 'please don't panic' protocol. Mary just nodded, because she could relate.
"Sounds crazy right? And what it's worse - nobody's seen anyone fall overboard." At least nobody was coming out with it, and Mary thought they probably would. Seventy people didn't just throw themselves/fall overboard like that, unless they were part of some cult Mary was unaware of. And if they were, well. They deserved to die. "I agree. There's a nurse doing medical stuff, I think they were even doing surgery; and she's been rounding up people who know first-aid and CPR, at least."
Mary crossed her arms. "And they say we're turning around and around to get spotted by the Coast Guard, but so far, no dice."
