She cocked her head to the side. "I notice that you call her Suzannah, not mom or mother..." She let the thought trail off, not know really where she was headed with it.
"My "best friend," and yes the finger quotes were used, "told me about this cruise because she knew I was so interested in the Bermuda Triangle. She talked about buying me tickets once the test runs were over. I had no idea she had entered me to come on this trip. As much as I wanted to tear up the tickets, I couldn't let the opportunity of going to the Bermuda pass me up."
Ella was genuinely fascinated by him. She was teeming with questions, trying to hold them back so as not to overwhelm him. She just couldn't resist asking one question. "Do you remember anything about your first three years?"
