He tossed her his lighter. "There you go. I bring you fire." He chuckled a little as the harried-looking waitress just kind of plopped the menus on the table.
"It was a paid vacation, what can I say?" Kaz puffed on his cigar a couple of times before continuing. "Play a New Year's gig, show up at a couple of parties, then hit the beach for a few. I just got off a big book tour and trust me, I needed the break." He sighed. "Sure wasn't expecting anything like this, though," he muttered as he exhaled. "What about you? When you're not chasing aliens, what keeps Maddie busy?"
