Zoe crossed her heart. "Take it to my grave," she assured him. "And keep it secret for my next two lives. Promise." She smiled at him. "But you have to sing for me again. Sometime."
He was speaking to her, in more ways than one. So she didn't bother to argue, just sprawled out across his bed. "I don't know," she admitted. "Maybe they're hoping for something better. Why's it so hard for you?"
