Cath chuckled again. "Don't you be letting him have it on less than your terms," he agreed. He looked over at Mae. "And I've the right to boss you, little girl. So hush. That bloke's yet to earn it."
He never claimed to be anywhere near modern in his thinking. He snorted at Mae's blunt observation. "She's offering free beer," he observed. "She ought to be."
As for the anarchy bit, he just ignored it. While nobody could look at him and believe he'd been a bookworm all his life, he was well past his days of getting over excited and shouting in the streets. But it was amusing to watch Mae do it.
"The world can't handle you, Mae," he countered wryly, pulling her towards him for a kiss. And really, he didn't have that many bullets. But that comment, he kept to himself.
