Judging from his seemingly disappointed reaction to her statement, Lynne thought maybe she shouldn't have said it. It was the truth, though; that was, unless he'd changed an awful lot. Since he'd said he'd been overseas with the military, she didn't think he probably had an awful lot of time to change the things he could and she still knew a lot of the things he couldn't.
It was her turn to shift slightly when he asked back. He was, without a question, the one person in the world who knew everything there was to know about her. Matthew knew things about Lynne that her best friends and family didn't know. Matthew...knew things about her that she didn't even know; case in point, that she still had a hard time eating in front of men. To her, it was a reflexive move and she didn't realize the motivation behind it. Matt had called it out immediately.
Giving him a small, weak smile, Lynne nodded. "You know you do," she said softly. It wasn't accusatory or broken, just pointing out the truth without trying to tiptoe around it. She almost missed having someone know her that well and she definitely missed knowing someone else like that. Not that it mattered, so she pushed the thought away.
