Part of Lynne wondered if he was sorry, too. Part of her wondered if he ever missed her or thought about her when she wasn't right in front of his face, the way she thought about him. She wondered if he wished he could turn back time and fix it, or if he could go back in time and she could fix it. She wasn't going to ask and it wasn't any of her business; the past was in the past and that was where it belonged. He knew it, she knew it, and that was that. Didn't stop her wondering, though.
"I had to keep you on your toes, didn't I?" she asked, smirking. The sheepish smile made her blush. He'd caught her looking and he knew her well enough, she wouldn't be surprised if he knew exactly what was going through her head as she'd done it, either. "Sorry," she laughed, deciding to 'fess up to being noticed. He wasn't stupid; he'd noticed anyway. She might as well apologize for being less than slick.
