Jean wasn't hurrying through breakfast, especially as the sun was behind some clouds so there was less reason to be concerned about Nikko being outdoors for so long without his suncreme. Which Jean knew he'd forgotten to put on the poor beast. Especially since he couldn't recall seeing it since before the New Year's Eve nonsense.
He smiled at the older man warmly. "Hi," he greeted. "Jean-Baptiste Calvert. Most people just call me Jean." He held out one hand. "Nice to meet you." The other hand went down to scratched the Great Dane under his chair behind the ears. "This is Nikko."
The dog lifted his head and bleched loudly. Jean snorted out a laugh and gave the huge beast a pat. "Pardon him. Manners of an animal, he has."
Jean nodded towards the empty seat at the table. "Have a sit," he invited. "I'd say we're out enjoying the weather, but really, it's bit too much like home for that."
