There was only so much lying around in bed that Sydney could do before she started to go just a little insane. Or perhaps that was the pain medication making her just a little on the loopy side. Either way, she wasn't exactly herself. It could also, in part, have to do with the fact that she hadn't exactly followed the directions on the pill bottle. Well it said every four to six but what would every two to three hurt...really? Besides, she was on a cruise. It was supposed to be relaxing.
What better place to relax, besides one's room, than a lovely library filled with books that smelled all...bookish. Leather bound and enclosed pages were one of Syd's favorite smells. She missed her library back in Nebraska. It was the one room in her home that she'd let herself get extravagant with. It was also one of the largest rooms in the two bedroom house that she'd purchased five years ago. God, she was getting homesick. Silly really but that was the truth of the matter.
Sydney lifted her right arm and tried not to stretch her stitches too much as she reached for a book she wanted. She already had a Ray Bradbury in her hands but one book wasn't going to cut it. She'd done nothing but sleep the last couple of days and now she was set on the idea of being up through the night and if that was the case, she'd need reading material.
She didn't even see the guy standing there perusing the shelves as she brought her hand down with the book clutched firmly in her fist. Thwack! "Oh my god!" she exclaimed immediately after the book connected with the side of the poor man's head. "Are you alright?" she reached out to the poor guy and the book in her other hand accidentally went flying towards his torso. Apparently, she was a fumble fingers when she was high. "Oh shit!" she cried.
