It was the one question she couldn't get out of her head, no matter what reason she concocted in her head for it. They had lost outside communication--at first glance it was a reasonable explanation. But the ship's clocks certainly were not synced to a station on the coast or anything; more than likely they got signals directly from a satellite. Perhaps the ship's communication with the satellites got knocked off in the storm, but EVERY clock had stopped.
The one on her computer. The watch on her wrist, which was too new to have a dead battery already. And she had had it long enough to know it wasn't defunct manufacturing. Not to mention, every clock she saw was stopped at midnight, and well, that was definitely more than a coincidence. Her cellphone too, no longer read the time.
At her blunt question, a few people around Lottie murmured, suddenly realizing they wondered the same thing. It may have not been the smartest thing to blurt out in a crowd full of already anxious people, but damn it this wasn't the time to walk on eggshells. Now was the time to get some answers.
She pursed her lips, hoping the man had heard her question and that he would attempt a truthful answer. If he didn't know, she wanted to know that.
