"I don't," she replied honestly. "You could be a man with the largest stick up his ass in everyday life, and I would have no clue. You're forgetting this is a first impression, a majority of which are often wrong. And obviously this one is." She didn't seem particularly bothered by his disagreement with her thoughts, or the apparent fact that she had been mistaken, surprisingly. "But, I also think people are who they are, and while you may be on vacation, it doesn't necessarily mean you're going to automatically let yourself go. Lots of people never do."
"And as for the military career? I think it's great that's your job. But in ten minutes of talking to you, it would not have been my guess." She gingerly forked up a piece of the chicken she had cut off and ate it.
She looked up at him when he laughed again and couldn't help but laugh herself, this time at his connections. "Do you really think I'm pinning you as a rebel without a cause, Matt? I don't see a leather coat and aviator shades. Give me a little more credit; I'm joking too... in fact, I joke the majority of the time. So don't take me so seriously." She sat back with a sigh, slightly baffled at how easily he had construed her playful thoughts for absolute seriousness.
