"Something like that," she explained vaguely, motioning with her hand. "Being a designer was the original plan, but I got sidetracked along the way. What about you? What do you do for a living?" Fashion was her passion, and to her it was a dazzling world of glamour, but she realized it didn't have the greatest reputation. And thankfully, she wasn't into that kind of fashion. She just wanted fashion that was real.
As they walked to the starting point of the buffet, she grabbed a plate and grinned over her shoulder at him. "They would make you pay for maps," she laughed. Her eyes returned to the buffet, and she saw it began sensibly, at the "American" food section. She hadn't noticed it before, but a lot of the dishes were missing. Not that it was really a problem, considering all the food that was available even with choices missing.
The tour around the buffet was surprisingly quick, and she took a seat at the nearest table. Brushing her hair from her face and over her shoulder, she stabbed her fork into her small side salad. "So Matt, tell me something interesting about yourself." She plopped her chin onto her fist and looked at him really for the first time, feeling much more relaxed now that they were settled. He was a decent looking guy; he pulled off the scruffy look well.
