Alice's head jerked up, eyes flying open. Although she knew she had been addressed, had recognized the words and understood them, it still took a long moment to respond. She simply wasn't sure how to answer him, partly because she didn't want to admit she had no idea where she was or how she had gotten here.
At last, slowly, she admitted, "A little."
Savannah sat back on her heels, the gesture making her realize suddenly that she was wearing nothing more than the thin hospital garment. A blush crawled over her cheeks. Hadn't she had a blanket at one point?
Her eyes lowered to the floor in embarrassment, then lifted again with a little laugh. Oh, this was precious. "Um, hi."
