Warmth and comfort surrounded her, and she could not even bring herself to be all that sorry for getting him all wet. The tears had tapered off, and with a slow sigh, Az collected herself back together, for the most part. "Thank you." It might have seemed a little strange to thank him for being there when she needed him most, to someone else perhaps. But, when it came down to it, there had been few she could depend on in her life for that kind of support. She pressed a soft, but surprisingly chaste kiss against his shoulder.
With a sniff, she laughed quietly for a moment. "You know, we're kind of bad at this vacation thing." They had not exactly had many vacations in the relatively short/long time that they had been together. Short in the grand scheme of things, but long enough that it felt comfortable together, without needing to poke and prod it for exact answers on things. She worked, likely more than she should, and advertising schemes always seemed to soak up more time than expected. A few weekends away here and there were not quite the Cruise to Bermuda (all in capitals) that this was supposed to have been. Lush and free of time restraints. "Maybe we need more practice."
The poor dog was whining in pain, and coupled with Jeb's calm directions, it drew a nod from her as she stepped back from the embrace. This time she felt significantly better about being physically separated from him, even that far, far more than she had the first time. "Of course." He was not good with blood, she had learned quite a bit ago, and knew he did not particularly like talking about it.
Thanks to her now Converse protected feet, pushing open the door to their suite and stepping inside was not quite the dangerous task it might have been. For a second or two, she simply blinked wide brown eyes at the lushly appointed room. In short, it was trashed. All those lovely vases of fresh flowers were smashed, although the chandelier had not fallen as she had feared for several heart-sickeningly long moments back in the Circean. Using her shoes to clear a path to one of the couches ahead in the sitting room, Az bent here and there to pick up larger pieces and drop them off to the side.
This would take quite a bit of clean-up, after Jeb and Nikko were taken care of. And Gregory found.
