Nodding with effort, Jason looked back at her. "Yeah, should be able to. My legs feel fine, I'm just so tired," he admitted.
He watched with pride and relief as Cami took charge of getting their daughter out of the way so that they could get up and hopefully find their way to the medical bay. He hadn't even thought about the possibility of internal injuries, for either of them until she'd said it and now that was just one more thing to worry about.
"You're such a good girl, Alli, you're being such a big girl," Jason said, smiling weakly over at his daughter. "Mommy and Daddy really appreciate it," he added.
Looking back at Cami, Jason nodded. "Yep, hang on," he said, leaning back against the dresser that had assaulted him in its stationary position. Taking a deep breath and reaching up to hook his hand on the top of the dresser, he pulled himself to his feet and took a few steps tentatively. Wincing, he looked back down at Cami and held a hand out to her. "No, I think I'm okay...I think it's just gonna leave a mark," he said. A nasty one, if he had to guess. Jason's entire left side felt like a giant bruise.
