Before Cami could react or even take stock of her injuries, the boat tilted the other direction and they were thrown into the side of the bed. That was at least softer than being thrown into the wall or dresser.
That comforting feeling was short lived as the boat tilted again and flung her back into the wall, this time her head connected with the edge of the dresser and she could feel blood seeping down her face. Cami kept hearing Alli's screams and she tried to make herself move, but she couldn't. The boat was still rocking violently. A picture over the dresser came off and glass rained down on their heads and backs. Apples from the apple trees dislodged and flew around the room at high rates of speed.
The last thing Cami remembered was another tilt and she saw the wall coming at her way too fast for her to push out her hands. Her head hit the wall, taking the full force of the impact. She was knocked unconscious, her last thought was worry about her daughter.
