Noah felt his heart clench at that thought. "No, no dying allowed!"
Feeling certain that she wasn't moving, Noah settled on the floor, pulling her into his lap. "Just rest, sweetheart," he murmured. He stroked his hand down her back in what he hoped was a soothing gesture. He tried to brace her in his arms so the rocking of the boat wouldn't affect her too much.
"Right about now, I'm wishing I could sing," Noah chuckled softly. "It seems like quite the appropriate moment for a lullaby or something."
