It felt strange to be on the stretcher, so smoothly airborne. The impromptu medics moved a little quickly, just enough to make her a bit dizzy again. CJ's face and touch anchored her, made at least part of the world around her stop spinning madly.
"Miss you," she murmured.
Her eyes followed him as they moved her away, right up until she could see him no more. With him gone, she felt her eyelids grow heavier again. There was no reason to stay awake any longer -- it had all been for him. No sooner did her eyes close than the man nearest her head was prodding her back to reluctant wakefulness.
