Emily wasn't far from the stage when the world turned upside down, or seemed to. She was on the upper floor of Circean Delight, but near the balcony railing, so the tables and chairs (and glasses, and silverware, and drunks) on this side of the big opening were between her and the port wall. When the ship seemed to topple, all that stuff hit the wall first, and then Emily hit all that stuff. Most of the big stuff on the other side of the room hit the railing and stopped, and most of the stuff that made it over the railing fell to the first floor, but Emily was showered with a number of smaller objects that had been flung all the way across the room, resulting in lots of small cuts and lacerations, but nothing too serious. Then the ship tipped the other way, and she found herself falling towards the railing, with all that stuff following after her and planning to crush her against the railing. She knew it was coming, though, and with the great balance and agility she had developed with years of Tae Kwon Do training, she leaped up and spun in midair before hitting the railing. To keep from falling to the floor below and her probable death, the reached out in desperation and grabbed the top of the railing. While she was hanging there, all that stuff hit the railing, crushing her fingers but effectively trapping her hands. Then the ship tilted again, and all that stuff fell away, freeing her hands but leaving her lying precariously on the railing. She knew she wouldn't be able to hang on if the ship tilted again, so she thrust one arm through one pair of balusters and hooked her hand on a third, to brace herself in place and ensure she wouldn't fall to her death. That's when all that stuff hit again, but somehow all the tables and chairs missed her this time. The ship tilted yet again, carrying all that stuff away from the railing, and Emily took the opportunity to extend a leg upward and hook her foot on another baluster. She used the additional purchase and her leg strength to hook another baluster with her other foot. The footholds were precarious, though, because she had lost both of her shoes by that time and the pantyhose she was wearing didn't provide good traction against the smooth stone of the balusters. That was unfortunate, because when all that stuff hit the railing again, it dumped a drunken passenger over the railing, who attempted in desperation to break his fall by grabbing the fabric of her evening gown. The sudden addition of his weight dislodged her feet, and she was once again hanging by one hand and one arm hooked through the balustrade. A jolt of pain shot through her arm as she felt one of her bones crack. Her evening gown was now pressing sharply into the flesh at the back of her neck, but only for a couple of seconds. She heard the fabric rip, and felt it sliding down her body as the drunk plunged to the floor below, taking her gown with him. Covered in blood, wearing only her panties and pantyhose, and overcome by the pain of a broken arm and eight broken fingers, she finally blacked out and dropped to the first floor, where her fall was broken by the drunken passenger who had preceded her down.
