Jamie was not a musician by heart, only by profession and yet tonight had rocked. He felt pumped and excited. It was going to be a very good year. As the count down ended and the New Year was rung in, he glanced over at Brodie and snuck in a wink. Anything more and Muse might actually get some bad press. And Jamie would never do anything to hurt her career. He held out a hand like he was catching rain but instead had a handful of confetti. Very cool.
At least, it was supposed to be cool. Only there was a shifting under his feet. His stomach lurched despite all the sea sickness precautions and if he hadn’t suddenly been flung at a wall, likely he would have tossed up all those ginger candies he’d previously eaten. When he actually hit that wall there was a sickening crunch. It wasn’t a bone or anything else but the guitar he’d tried to use as a shield. His poor guitar. It was totally wrecked.
The warmth and pain didn’t even kick in until he realized that the broken guitar neck was partially stuck inside his abdomen... Not that he could tell just by looking but he should have been very grateful in that moment because it wasn’t actually in any vital organs or important veins. In fact it wasn’t very deep at all but there was enough blood to look like it was... Jamie didn’t scream. He didn’t get a chance because another wave sent him flying again and it took all his concentration to not only lose the guitar but to keep from falling over railings and smacking back into walls.
