Brodie really only wanted two things at the moment: for Jamie to be taken care of, and for the burning sensation he was feeling to stop. Jamie seemed worse than ever and Brodie did not like the idea of him standing up and moving almost on his own; but he knew Jamie would do whatever he wanted anyway, and he was in too much pain to argue properly.
"Don't..." He still said anyway, and when Jamie held out his hand Brodie didn't take it. He stood up, gritting teeth and mumbling mantras of concentration on other things, and only then did he grab Jamie's hand just so he knew he was there, as if it helped.
"Thanks." He said to Az. Brodie wasn't about to get on the stretcher and let Jamie walk all the way to wherever they were going. He turned to the volunteers. "Take him first, he's bleeding." Brodie wasn't losing anything at the moment, except maybe a bit of his sanity, so he could very well look for a wall to lean against while they took Jamie.
