Re: ...continued from up top
"Two neck braces, two back braces, an air cast, and gauze or towels. Got it!" Lisa proclaimed once she was settled into the wheelchair. "Thank you so much for your help, and take good care of them while I'm gone," she said. She redirected her attention to the chair. She had never been in a wheelchair before, but it couldn't be too hard to control, could it? The rear wheels were equipped with handles that she could grab onto and pull, making the chair go forward. It took a bit of strength at first to get it going, but once it was moving, it became easier to keep it going. The problem was, there were injured people and debris all over, preventing her from maintaining her speed. She had to continually adjust her direction, maneuvering around obstacles. Her tears flowed freely as she saw all the hurt people. Got to focus. Your friends are counting on you! Her foot throbbed as the ankle strap on her sandal pressed painfully into her swollen ankle. Ignore it! Your pain isn't important; you've got to help Molly and Chelsea. Focus! She finally got past the stage and headed down the hall. The elevators that would take her down to the medical station were just ahead; she prayed they would be working. If not, she'd have to abandon the wheelchair and crawl down the steps. She got to the elevator and pushed the down button. She breathed a sigh of relief as the doors on one of the elevators slid open. It seemed fate had smiled on her; maybe, if it continued to do so, she would find Sean on the way.
