Inside the chapel, he found he was not alone. In addition to the priest heading toward what must have been his study, Molly was there sitting on the first pew, holding a sketchpad. He had danced with her the evening before at the costume party, where she had been dressed as Delirium, an incarnation of an intangible concept from a graphic novel. She seemed to him a fascinating girl; quite intelligent, despite having suffered brain damage that sometimes made communicating with her difficult, prone to flights of fancy, and a good-hearted person who was turned off by violence. She was always finding ways to surprise him, it seemed. The sketchpad didn't surprise him, because he had thought that she might be an artist, but he was a little surprised to find her here in the chapel; he hadn't pegged her as the religious type.
"Good afternoon, Molly. Wonderful day, isn't it?"
