Who: Jasper and Muse
When: Afternoon
Where: Arete deck
It was quite the busy day for Muse. Already she'd been an accomplice to theft, and breaking and entering, and it wasn't even dinnertime yet! It was all in good fun, though. Maybe she'd give Jamie a round of karma and replace all his underwear with lingerie. If she had the time. The show was tonight! And soon she'd have to settle in for the hours of preparation. She dropped Brodie's key off with Jamie - though she didn't tell him how she got it, the only explanation she was willing to give was that she was magic - and turned to head back to the elevators. As she did, she noticed a rather pretty man walking down the hall and she smiled brightly. "Hello! Happy New Year!"
Jasper was on his way back to his room, pleased after winning a hefty sum in the casino. As he saw it, there was nothing wrong with a little morning gambling, so long as he came out ahead. Now he was thinking a nap might be in order, though his attention was drawn to the girl heading towards him, down the hall. "Happy New Year to you, too," Jasper answered, his eyes locking on her. She seemed familiar, though he couldn't say why, but he was almost positive he'd seen her before. His head tilted slightly to the side as he considered her, then smiled as recognition kicked in. "I don't believe we've met," he said. "I'm Jasper Valente."
Muse might have kept on walking, but since he stopped to talk, she did too. "Muse Trueblood," she introduced herself, extending a hand. This was probably the sort of thing Aileen was usually warning her about, but Muse was a people person. She made friends everywhere! Life was more fun that way.
Jasper took the opportunity to kiss the top of her hand, rather than shake it, mostly because it amused pretty girls and she didn't seem the type to backhand him for it. "Pleased to meet you," he smiled. "Are you excited about the show tonight?" he asked casually. Now he was glad that he'd actually read up on the ship, otherwise he might not have realized she was one of the headliners on board. He did wonder why she was wandering around on his floor, though. She was the sort of guest that usually got VIP treatment.
Muse was such a sucker for that kind of treatment, really. She reacted well to people being nice to her. Maybe a little too well for her own good, but it hadn't bit her in the ass yet. She smiled brightly and nodded. "I can't wait. I've had to watch other people play all week, I can't wait to take the stage. Are you going?"
"Wouldn't miss it for the world," Jasper grinned. It would be far more interesting to watch her perform now that they'd met and he had no place better to be, at least not yet. "Is tonight the only night they let you play?" he asked, since it sounded like she was eager to perform. At least she liked what she was doing, which was better than he could say for some.
"That's all they booked me for." Muse said, rolling her eyes. "They got me here, you think they'd want to use me, you know? But no. One New Years Eve show, and mingling at parties and just being 'seen', like I'm Elvis or something." she rambled on. "When the power went out Kaz - he's on board too - brought his guitar to Circean Delight and we did some acoustic songs together. I guess I have to cross my fingers for another power outage! That was great fun."
"I'd think you could take over an open stage in the wee hours of the morning, if you really wanted to," Jasper suggested with a smile. "No one's gonna stop you if you give free shows, so long as you abide by the rest of your contract." It was a different way of looking at it, twisting it about. If they didn't say she couldn't do it, it must mean she could. "Do you have any required invitations to attend to after the show?"
Muse tilted her head to the side as she thought about what he said, and she realized he had a good point. She wondered if the band would be on board. "I'll have to keep that in mind," she said, grinning again. "No, after the show I think it's that 'being seen' thing again." And she never had a problem with that part. "I imagine there will be tons of parties."
"Just a thought," he grinned. There was no pressure to get into trouble, but it amused him that he could put the thought out there for her. He'd have to watch and see if she went for it before the trip was up. "That's what I was thinking. I'm sure the whole ship will break out into a New Year's celebration, along with a countdown." Jasper paused, his hands sliding into his back pockets. "Would you join me for a toast?" he asked.
God, Muse loved attention. Even she knew she was being such a sucker, but she just couldn't help herself. "I'd be glad to." she answered, grinning. If she could actually get a bartender to give her a drink. Not being old enough to drink in the states, she'd been a little limited here. Then again, she was a very hard person to say no to. "I'll look for you."
"Thank you," Jasper smiled, taking a few steps on down the hall, slowly moving towards his room as he let her continue on her way. "I'll be easy to find," he promised. If there was Jasper was good at, it was standing out in a crowd, though he had no doubts that he would find Muse before she would find him. "See you tonight, Muse."
"See you tonight," Muse echoed, winking as she hit the button for the elevator. Tonight was going to be so much fun. How was she going to make it all day with so much to be excited about?
