She really should have paid more attention to the information packet that she had received from the cruise ship company when she had been given the job. If she had, she would have been aware of the upcoming costume ball. True, she could have stayed in her small room, or simply just stayed away from the event. Somehow, though, Rita really did want to go to the ball. It looked to be something interesting, and like nothing she had been to before.
So, she had turned to her rather limited wardrobe, and had been glad that she had followed her mother's advice to bring her best sari. It was all shades of gold and orange, considered sacred colors in Hinduism.

Rita was jarred from her thoughts on the subject when a woman spoke to her, drawing her attention upwards. "Oh, yes, of course." She smiled shyly, feeling very aware of her accent for a moment.
