Naturally Miguel had had to return to work after his break was over. Jack had understood, but had also made his brother-in-law swear not to tell Marla where his room was. Because that, my friend, was a frightening concept. Not one that Jonathan 'Jack' Fortescue ever wanted to meet head on. Perhaps it was an overreaction, but the fact was that the woman had felt a bit too much like a sexual predator for Jack's tastes (as well as for his survival instincts).
He had stopped by his room, and actually checked out the map, before he had headed out again. Between checking the map and exiting the door to go off and find his destination, Jack had changed his pants for swim trunks and sneakers for flip flops.
The idea of a splash park had sounded fantastic, especially given the great weather. Back home he would have been bundled up and watching the snow fall outside his window, but here he could actually go out and swim without freezing. Not to say that he had not tried the 'Polar Bear Club' once before, it just had not been an experience he wanted to try again. Freezing water and humans were not supposed to mix, at least not without wetsuits and a reason to be there. Like studying actual polar bears swimming habits, or something, he could understand that.
Once he had arrived, Jack pulled of his shirt and kicked off his shoes, dropping them onto an available lounge chair.
The slides and tubes were not particularly daring, at least not as much as...say, cliff diving in Mexico. Still, Jack felt that they had appeal, and immediately headed to the tallest one. Which had a surprisingly short line to wait in, just one person ahead of him and he would be able to go.
