Peter laughed softly. It was a kind laugh, old and gentle. "For the same reason you do. You know what will happen at the end of the book, don't you? The police will catch the bad guys and solve the case. But that doesn't stop you from reading it."
And he truly was amused with the suggestion.
"And, believe it or not, most of these books are by contemporary authors." A book caught his eye on the shelf, and he reached for it. It was a book he had in his own library, and he often recommended it to the younger generation. "This book, for example, is only five years old. It's the story of King David...with some embellishments, of course."
