Samantha hadn't wanted to come to this dinner. She'd wanted to stay in her room and read the night away, but her sister had insisted. That was all nice and well, but then she'd disappeared the moment they'd got there, leaving Samantha standing awkwardly near the door not really knowing what to do. The captain was still talking, but they'd got there late so she wasn't sure what he was going on about. Glancing around warily, she tried to catch sight of her sister, or even her brother. Her sister hadn't wanted to wait for Jesse. She saw neither of them.
Instead she headed to a table, trying not to focus on the fact that she was wearing just a pair of dark jeans and an oversized sweater. Clearly, she was under dressed. It struck her as she pulled out the chair to the table that perhaps they had assigned seats. She hadn't even checked, but here she was already practically sitting in the chair. The table only had one other person sitting at it, so maybe it was just a free for all. Sit wherever you like. At the moment, Samantha was caught up in being too nervous to care, so she sat down heavily, giving the girl a shy and somewhat shaky smile. She really, really should have just stayed in her room.
