It was likely a good thing that their beginning class was small, although that definition depended on whether or not these two women came back. Rita was the picture of calm now, her tension having bled away, as the prospect of spending time going through the smooth motions and forms of yoga rose. She was seated just in front of the other two, facing them, and would purposefully reverse her positions so that they could follow her when they actually began.
She smiled, serenity a gleam within her expression, settling into her comfort zone. "Not to worry, whether you are a beginner or one already used to yoga, we will go at the same pace." The young woman nodded once. "The most important thing is that you go at your own pace, and only do what you are able to. If you have the slightest problem performing a movement, I ask that you tell me immediately so that I may help you." If either of the women strained themselves, or tried to be competitive for flexibility, it would negate the benefits that yoga carried.
"We will begin with a sitting arm and neck stretch," Rita scooted back on her mat, until her rear was at the end away from her students. Unfolding her legs, she put her heels on the mat, legs straight and palms flat on the mat on either side of her legs. "This is Dandasana, better known as the staff posture. Many positions begin and end in the Staff."
Her movements were fluid, as well as purposeful, so that she could be followed. It would not do to lose the others with such an easy move just yet. Rita placed her hands on the back of her neck, intertwining her fingers, elbows far apart. "Move on the inhale. Inhale, arms up. Exhale, elbows together. Inhale, elbows apart." They were beginning with the very basics, but would be able to build from there.
