Just about to open her mouth to instruct the slightly shorter woman to choose a place to unroll her mat, after it was handed to her of course, the young Nepalese woman turned to see the new arrival. "Good morning," Rita greeted with a smile, surprised but pleased to see another student join the class.
She shook her head, "No, no, you are not too late. We were just beginning." Rita handed one of the two rolled yoga mats to Lisa, and the other to the new woman, "Here, you need to choose a spot on the deck, and unroll your mat." Then, as if she just remembered her social misstep, her bright eyes widened momentarily. "I am Sarita, your instructor, but you may call me Rita."
With a sleek twist and bend, the woman procured herself a yoga mat of her own. Rita raised one hand, indicating part of the open deck. "Please, if you will." Leading by example, she set her own mat down on the deck, unrolling it. "We will begin with simple stretches, so if you could sit down in the center of your mat..." In a smooth movement, Rita moved from standing to seated cross legged on the mat.
