Two of a Kind
Who: Mason
Where: his room
When: late evening, some time after leaving Ronnie, Terra and Lisa
status: complete
Nothing about being on board this cruise ship made Mason feel even remotely safe except for his room. The room that he'd been sure to add an extra padlock on the inside for when he slept, a lock that he was careful no one knew about. He'd been sure to nip whatever thoughts any cleaning crews had about entering his room in the bud the first day. It was easy to explain that he was just very particular about his things, and that no one was to enter his room but himself. Not a difficult request to have filled, considering he was staff anyway.
That night, Mason was feeling a little on edge. It'd been a bad idea to go anywhere with people. He should have come directly to his room like he'd told himself to, but for some reason he hadn't. Maybe he wanted to run into Lisa, and look at how well that had went. He definitely had, and he was certain there was something she was keeping hidden. Whether that meant she was just afraid of falling overboard or a secret nymphomaniac, Mason wasn't entirely sure. He just knew that he wanted to find out, no needed to.
It'd been a whole four hours since he'd thought about trying to watch Sophie while she went about the ship. Four hours was a lot for him. Usually Sophie occupied all Mason's thoughts, all the time. Usually he was thinking up different ways to make her bleed, but most of all he was usually thinking about how she'd tell him she loved him after everything he would do to her. Of course she would, why wouldn't she? But now there was Lisa, and it upset Mason a little bit that she was taking over Sophie's spot. Something had to be done about it, he just wasn't sure what.
Mainly, he need to know more about Lisa Blankenship in order to not need to think about her so much. At the moment, it seemed his only option would be to try and look her up online. In the past he'd found it surprisingly easy to find things about people online, and why should this be any different. Sitting down at the computer, Mason unbuttoned his shirt halfway and relaxing. No need to pretend he was something he wasn't here.
Quickly he typed 'Lisa Blankenship' in a search engine he usually used. If it didn't bring up any results, he knew other ways to find out information but luckily for him quite a few results came up. At random he clicked the fifth one down and was surprised to find the article was about how distressed a community in Atlanta was over the death of poor Lisa Blankenship. There was even a photo along with the article that was clearly not the Lisa he had met earlier that day. Licking his lips, Mason leaned forward reading the article more carefully.
By the time he was finished, and he'd been sure to read at least four other articles as well, Mason was certain that the Lisa he had met was in all likelihood Karen Chandler, the woman accused of murdering her husband and the real Lisa Blankenship. It brought a smile to his face. Apparently he wasn't the only one pretending to be someone he wasn't, and though he'd originally been looking for a reason to rid his thoughts of Lisa, now he knew he wouldn't be able to. It sealed Lisa's fate. As soon as he was able he would get her alone, practice all the things he wanted to do to Sophie on her. He was certain she would love it, after all, what kind of murderer wouldn't love the things Mason had in store for her?
