...What was this, Savannah silently demanded, the Cruise of the Spazzes? Was there anyone she could avoid pissing off? So much for calming down...
No, probably not. But, then, away from the cruise, she wouldn't be caught dead talking to half the people she'd gotten to know, even if she did only talk to them because there was no one else for any of them to talk to. CJ and Lisa were probably the only exceptions, and Lisa didn't seem quite like she was in Savannah's league either, what with being a cheerleader and all.
"Look, I'm sorry, okay?" Savannah said, fingering the pause button yet again. She turned to face the other woman fully, one hand on her hip and the other gesturing with her speech. "Jesus, no need to jump down my throat just because you couldn't afford college or whatever your story is." There was an implication -- a strong one -- that no girl would choose to become a mechanic of her own free will. Savannah strongly believed that.
While Savannah was not above getting into an argument with anyone in a wheelchair, she wasn't about to start a scene. That would be the next thing to come up: Savannah picked a fight with a girl in a wheelchair. And all she'd done was call her pretty.
"Sorry again," she said, plucking her iPod from the place she'd left it, turning to start for the door. "I'll just spare you the compliments next time. Jesus."
