"There were definitely others worse off than me," Noah answered. "I was shot in the thigh. A piece of bone actually wedged in my kneecap. I had a bunch of surgeries after I returned home. My leg still hurts from time to time...especially when it rains or when it's cold. But I survived. And that's more than I can say for a lot of others."
Not wanting the conversation to be dragged down by his injury, Noah tried changing the subject. "I hear there's going to be a costume ball tomorrow. Are you dressing up?"
