Samantha frowned, for the most part in sympathy. "That's terrible, I'm so sorry that happened." She did notice him rub his right knee, and by her powers of deduction reasoned that was the likely one. Either way, it didn't matter, she was more interested in what he had to say now. Curiosity was the only part of her that was bigger than her nervousness, and right now it was getting the best of her.
Her frown deepened just slightly when he said ass, but she made no mention of the fact that she hated curse words. She felt she didn't need to add anymore to the list that made her undoubtedly 'lame' as most people would put it. Or rather, boring. Again, she bit her lip for a moment before responding. "Actually, I've never met anyone with the same story, so to me it's quite unique." There was a small pause as she looked at him carefully before adding, "But I understand the type of depression that would make you not work as hard academically." The second she said it, she regretted it.
