Samantha wasn't sure how she felt at the moment. She really like the idea of him calling her Sam so that she would always know it was him, but another part of her screamed 'he's just trying to be sweet and nice so he can get you drunk, and when you say no, then he'll rape you.' It was the part of her that wanted only to protect herself, so it wasn't really a surprise when she averted her eyes and got really quiet. "Ok, that's fine," she said, her voice really soft and insecure sounding. She knew she was looking like a fool, one that couldn't talk to someone properly without getting weird. She didn't look back up at him until he started talking about playing on New Years.
Tentatively she looked up at him. "Well, do you need to practice now? Am I keeping you from doing that? I don't want to be the reason why you're not ready and making people upset." Her words were filled with the usual insecure, worry sounding doubt that she generally used with her brother when they were off to do something she wanted to do and she wasn't sure he entirely wanted to do. It embarrassed her that she couldn't just have a normal conversation, especially when Jamie seemed pretty normal.
