Lynne returned Graham's smile with a sheepish one of her own, blushing slightly. She still felt a little silly for having laid it all out like that when her profession was something so simple, but at least his words made her feel a bit better about it. "I don't know about brilliant, but you're welcome," she replied.
At Graham's next statement, she opened her mouth to reply with something serious only to close it again when he grinned and held up his milkshake. Laughing, Lynne picked up her soda and held it up, too, clinking the glasses together. "Hear, hear," she replied with a smirk.
Looking down at her food and poking at it with one finger, she made a face. "I let it get cold," she complained. "I think I'm done," she added, pushing the plate away. Stretching her arms over her head, she looked over at Graham again. "I think I'm gonna go check some stuff out. It was really nice to meet you, thanks for joining me," she said. She gave him a genuine smile. "Good luck finding your story," she added. "For what it's worth, I promise as soon as I get home, I'm subscribing to the New York Times, so you'll always have at least one reader. Now you'll never have to cease to exist."
With that, she gave him another smile and stood, holding out a hand to shake his once more. "I'll hopefully see you around."
