Graham didn't seem to take notice or really mind her eating habits. He had a rather healthy appetite himself, even if he tended to forget to eat sometimes when he was working, and he enjoyed seeing the same quality in other people. Fortunately, perhaps, for him, was that no matter how much food he consumed, he hardly ever gained much weight. He was certainly one of those guys who had great metabolism like that. Oh, he was fairly active as well, always on his feet and such, which helped as well.
"Some of the things I've already asked you, yes," he replied, "and hopefully a few other bits as well. Probably not very good publicity if I only interview seasick passengers who have yet to really explore the ship." But he winked at her, showing that he was teasing. "I suppose you could say that the sort of stories I really like to cover are the ones that are real, and that you can really connect to. There's real heart in those stories. Nothing fake or artificial for me." Graham half-grinned. "Or, I'll just write up a nice review of the place. Haven't found any rats yet, or eaten any undercooked food, so that's certainly a good sign."
Graham raised his brow up at her when she again mentioned tagging along with him. Oh, he enjoyed meeting people, which he did often with his profession, and making new friends and acquaintances. But his smile became somewhat apologetic, expression softening a bit. "Ah, well, the thing is, I seem to work best on my own. I'm sorry, but I would gladly take down your info, and the lovely tidbits you have given me. Perhaps more of your story once you've seen what the ship has to offer, yes?"
It wasn't that he was turning her down. Ever since his divorce, and before that even, he'd been something of a lonely figure. Its just how he was. His editor probably knew him better than anybody, and that was mainly because she worked with him so closely. Oh sure, he'd had flings here and there, but no steady, stable relationships.
"And there is a dancing extravaganza going on this evening, I believe. Perhaps I'll catch you there?" he smiled a bit more, not wanting to come across as rejecting her offer or something like that.
