"Jean and Az. Nice kids and very much in love," Peter murmured with a soft smile. He really was happy for them -- it gave them something positive to focus on, rather than the fact they were stuck out in the middle of the ocean. Everyone needed that right now.
When Cath brought up the meeting, Peter instinctively frowned. Oh. That. It wouldn't have been quite so bad if Peter had had even a hint as to what they were talking about. Instead, he'd been left completely in the dark. "Thank you," he told the younger man gratefully. "But I think you'll get these meetings of yours sorted out." Cath seemed to be a capable man, and he appeared to know what he was doing. Peter thought that was a good sign.
Now, they were finally onto the part of the conversation which, Peter sensed, Cath was really here to discuss. His eyebrows rose slightly, and he smiled. "I'm one of those bloody Americans," he noted. "And I think no less of you for it."
Peter thoughtfully leaned back in his chair. He looked fairly comfortable, although he wasn't slouching in the least. Posture had been drilled into his head as a boy, then again as a young man. By now, it was simple habit.
"I've had the pleasure of speaking with Sean. He's a good man, and he recognizes the good in others. I believe he'll understand your actions. He may be angry at first, but that's to be expected. As for Ronnie..." Peter's shoulders lifted in a slight shrug. "I'm afraid I don't know him very well." Or at all.
