"Billie's my friend," Mary Mae explained, smiling. "I don't have a sister. But I met Billie at the hospital. She always takes good care of me!"
"'Kay!" Mary Mae chirped in utter delight. "Come on, Niles," she cooed, beginning down the hallway. "I want to see what the water looks like!"
Spreading her arms out for balance, Mary Mae began down the hallway by balancing on one of the lines in the carpet, which ran all the way down to the end. She had no way of knowing if this was even the right way, but there was a nice lady with a dog with her, so she wasn't likely to get lost.
"How come you brought Niles on the boat?" she wondered out loud. "Doesn't he get seasick and turn green and stuff?"
