Niles allowed the woman to pet him, although he wasn't his usual self around her. He could sense that something wasn't quite right with the woman, but what it was, he couldn't quite put a paw on. So he let himself be pet, even as Megan pulled back on the leash.
"Dammit..." she said, pulling on the leash a little. "Sorry, his name is Niles, and he's supposed to know better." She rolled the voice over in her head, trying to place it. It sounded familiar, but there was something to the voice that was different. A childlike quality that seemed out of place. "Tessa?" she asked. "Is that you?" That's who it sounded like it should be, anyways.
